Specifications of the G15 Irons

The G10 irons were a hugely popular club which led the market. The Ping G15 Irons include several improvements that will make them even more popular than their predecessors. The ping G15 iron’s technology gives a high launching benefit that also has maximum forgiveness that will bring consistency to any golfer’s iron game. The increased forgiveness is most likely the most beneficial improvement in the irons. The increase in forgiveness comes from an increased MOI (moment of inertia) which the manufacturers achieved through a custom tuning point that is recessed further from the face of the club head. By making this adjustment, manufacturing designers were able to shave 7 grams form the tuning port structure of the face. They were able to do so without any reduction in distance control and without any destabilizing of the clubface. The repositioning of this weight moved the center of gravity back and down in the club head so that it will yield a higher launch as well as an optimal spin.

Features of the G15 Irons

Increased MOI because of a specially designed stainless steel cavity with a new CTP (custom tuning port)

Thinner face saves weight and repositions to the toe for increased forgiveness on miss-hits; wider sole gives an increased launch angle

Strengthened lofts along with a lower center of gravity produce elongated shots without giving up on higher trajectories that are necessary for an iron of maximum forgiveness

CTP weighs 7 grams less due to repositioning for greater MOI

Review of the G15 Irons

The G15 just like its predecessor is an iron that is oversized and designed specifically for players who are looking for maximum forgiveness. There have been several design changes that Ping felt would help to make the club more forgiving.

The epicenter has a new CTP (custom turning port). This thinner face gives just enough weight savings to allow the weight to be shifted out toward the perimeter, specifically the toe. This ensures golfers of being able to control distances and gives them a more solid feel.

Aesthetically, Ping has had a reputation for making ugly clubs! Most avid Ping users are very pleased with the new look of the G15s. Engineers consulted with artistic designers to combine a new red, silver and black color scheme with the newly designed club cavity. The clubs are subtly attractive. This is just an aesthetic appeal for most golfers who are seriously only concerned about the club’s performance on the course.

Most golfers who have been using this new design say it has a very different sound and feel than previous clubs. The G10 really was one of the finest and best available on the market and that makes it hard to improve on something that popular. But the G15 does have a greatly improved softer, and crisper feel and sound.

Ping proudly stated that the new design would yield more distance; but of course the true test is in the actual game. The loft of each club was decreased by one degree from the G10s. Users have been greatly satisfied with a consistently increased distance of somewhere between 3 and 5 yards with each and every G15 club.

Golfers seem to be pleased with the new look, feel and distance of the G15s. But what about forgiveness? The conclusion by most is that the G15 is even more forgiving than their predecessor. This is due in part to each shot having almost the exact fell and trajectory. Even though some of the changes seem rather minor, the improvements are significant.

Specifications of the Ping G15 Fairway Wood

The Ping G15 Fairway Wood is very similar to the G15 driver as far as the external sole weight pad is concerned. Like the driver, the head’s design is lengthened which according to the manufacturers, Ping, will increase the MOI (moment of inertia) when compared to the previous model, the G10. Ping’s Fairway Wood has a low profile design that presents a long, forgiving option especially for those golfers who like to rely on the larger sized gold club head. The external weight pad’s center of gravity is lowered and positioned further back on the sole. This gives the golfer higher trajectories as well as improved distances.

Features of the Ping G15 Fairway Wood

Larger head confidence with long, forgiving option

Standard model available in four lofts

Sole contains an external weight pad for higher trajectories and more forgiveness

Noticeably heavier shaft which gives a more penetrating, more aggressive ball flight

Newly designed ID8 grip allows golfers to use the best amount of pressure with either hand

Review of the Ping G15 Fairway Wood

Some golfers were reluctant to try the new Ping G15 as the G10 was thought to not need any improvements at all. But the design features created quite a draw to this particular wood, and overall golfers are very well pleased with the new look and feel.

The new Fairway wood features an elongated design with a low profile to provide extra forgiveness and to make it much easier to use on a wide variety of lies. The larger head size translates into greater confidence as you are standing over your next shot. Most golfers are very impressed with the G15 Fairway Wood’s lower center of gravity as it helps to achieve greater distances and higher launches.

The club has a new aesthetic appeal as well as improved performance. Most golfers do not really take the time to look at the sole, but when and if you do, it does have a nice mixture of Ping’s traditional silver, red and black. The alignment aid has also been transformed into a couple of triangular forms. These really work out great for golfers as they are trying to line the club up with the target line. They are very practical as most find them much easier to use but at the same time not outlandish or gaudy.

With the elongated head size it gives golfers an added since of confidence. It gives them the sense that there is no way to screw up the next shot. And really, the only thing that can go wrong has to simply be operator error!

The G15 Fairway Wood can be used off the tee on driving holes that are tighter; but it can also be used off the deck. It can pull of a shot very easily and launch the ball effortlessly and quickly. It is certainly perfect for the fairway and the club’s sole interacts smoothly with the ground to give an impressive distance to the shot.

The forgiveness factor is a great feature and the sweet spot seems to be pretty much almost anywhere on the face, but not completely. It just has a lot smaller margin of error due to the latest design features. It is a fun club to use off the tee. It is not a driver replacement, nor a mini-driver but it will still send the ball a long way down the fairway.

The two shaft options give the golfer the ability to find the perfect head-shaft combination to enhance their game.

Specifications of the Ping G15 Driver

Golfers who are looking for a maximum forgiveness driver will find that the Ping G15 driver was designed just for them. This driver is exceptional when it comes to accuracy and distance. The head is constructed of titanium and reaches all the way to the maximum head size limit of 460CC.The driver’s head is elongated from back to front which will increase the MOI (moment of inertia). The G15 driver has a clubface that is 7 percent larger than its predecessor. This gives the G15 more forgiveness and stability all in one. The driver features Ping’s specially designed ultra thin crown technology which has the desired effect of reducing the top of the club head’s weight by 6 grams. This redistributes the club’s weight out toward the external sole weight pad. The center of gravity is thus lower and further back on the club head. This weight adjustment provides golfers with optimum trajectory for a high launch which combined with a low spin rate will assist both the carry and roll.

Features of the Ping G15 Driver

Extreme forgiveness, low spin and high launch driver is beneficial for mid to high handicappers

Lengthened face profile gives a superior toe-to-heel sweet spot

Available in lots of 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degrees

Repositioned weight placed at the back of the sole give most advantageous center of gravity

5g increased swing weight of the TFC 149D point shaft yields higher ball speeds as well as increased MO

Reviews of the Ping G15 Driver

This driver looks and feels great according to avid golfers. The G15 club head sits very well behind the ball and helps the golfer have increased confidence. It is a very powerful driver and many have seen increased distances of more than 20 yards with the Ping G15. This increased distance is achieved even when the hit wasn’t perfect. For golfers with a swing that is slightly inconsistent, the G15 will still yield consistently long drives. It’s an easy to hit driver that really does most of the work.

Golfers are overall impressed by the increased forgiveness of the club especially in regards to distance. But it is an incredibly reliable driver in terms of accuracy as well. Miss hits go unpunished and the larger head has a huge sweet spot. There’s not a driver on the market that is more forgiving than the Ping G15 driver.

Ball flight has a very consistent strength and penetration. And many say that even when they do not feel that they hit the ball all that well, they still see flight that is strong and penetrating. Because of this stability and forgiveness the Ping G15 is not the best driver to work the golf ball from the tee with. But other than that, this driver offers the golfer nothing but exceptional performances.

For those who are looking for a perfect combination of accuracy and distance this is the driver that can help you achieve it. It is a reliable driver and will help keep you in play and ahead of all your playing partners.

The driver is highly recommended for players of all skill levels. The Ping G15 Driver can be swung consistently by golfers with a 32 handicap as well as the scratch golfer. Most of the time drivers are designed for one group or the other; but Ping has designed and manufactured a driver that can be used to play well for everyone. The driver is available with a draw which means the slice or fade golfer can easily maintain control without having to sacrifice distance.

Specifications of the G15 Draw Driver

The Ping G15 draw driver is specifically manufactured and engineered for the golfer who is looking for a driver that has maximum forgiveness and will also deliver the greatest distance and accuracy. The draw driver has a lengthened titanium head that repositions the center of gravity with an external sole weight. This repositioned weight gives a higher trajectory as well as reduces the spin effect. The face has a larger design to give maximum ball speed while providing consistency across the whole hitting surface.

There are two shaft options the TFC 149D shaft and the Aldila Serrano 60 Shaft. The 149D is constructed out of premium graphite and specially designed by Ping to utilize the latest in high balance point technology. Engineers were able to increase the mass of the head by about 5 grams without adding to the swing weight or club weight. This way the player’s club head speed remains unaffected. This new design gives higher speeds and additional MOI which in turn yields longer and straighter drives.

The Aldila Serrano 60 is also constructed of premium graphite and is designed to give an alternative to the TFC 149 club family. It will give the golfer just a vaguely lower angle of launch and spin.

Features of the G15 Draw Driver

460cc titanium head yields maximum forgiveness, improved accuracy and distance

Internal weight pad is repositioned closer to heel which allows increased club rotation

Elongated face design gives increased ball speed and consistency across the face area

External sole weight pad provides center of gravity which produces higher launch angles and lower spin rate

Reviews of the G15 Draw Driver

The new G15 draw driver has impressed the golfing world. One thing that golfers have found impressive is its new levels of forgiveness. There were several improvements made over its predecessor the G10 – and quite frankly, that was a difficult task. It reaches a higher moment of inertia (MOI) by elongating the head from front to back. The face size was also increased by 7 percent which most golfers have found to be a much more consistent hitting surface. And the center of gravity has been shifted an positions so that trajectories are higher and spin is lower.

Those who have been playing some of the other “softer” sounding drivers that are available will notice a totally new sound with this one. This louder, but not obnoxious, sound gives you the sense that you struck the ball with a greater force.

Whether or not you can achieve greater distances will largely depend on if you are fitted or not with the G15. The external weight pad is designed to give you the optimum in trajectory and spin. It will only take most users a few shots to realize that they are achieving a much greater height. This increased trajectory can cause some loss of distance so most find that they will have to make some adjustments for the increased launch angle. After some minor adjustments, most have found that this has greatly improved their distance. If you are serious about wanting more distance from the G15 make sure to have a PING fitter help you find the right loft for your swing.

It may slightly affect your power fade while on the range, but the draw becomes a weapon that is downright addicting. However, many do not notice as much of a draw as they notice how straight their drive has become when using the new G15. It really seems like a totally different driver with the latest developments in the distance, trajectory and sound.

Specifications for the new G15s

The Ping G15 series is very appealing to avid golfers who are looking for an easy to hit attribute that is also accompanied by maximum forgiveness and a higher launch. The G15s are versatile and have much more control which is a big plus for most golfers. Even though it is forgiveness that is the largest desire, it’s not worth it at the expense of workability. That is what is so attractive about the G15 series; it has both.

Even though the G10 series was a very popular product the creators decided to try to improve on its features. This was no small task as golfers were already in love with the G10. But they did some weight shifting and tweaked a few design features and were able to amazingly improve on a product that was already great in the eyes of most golfers.

Features of the G15 Clubs

Ping G15 Irons – This iron gives a high launch while sustaining maximum forgiveness. This design helps golfers maintain consistency. The new Custom Tuning Port with its stainless steel design increases the MOI. The thinner face has been totally repositioned which shifts the weight to the perimeter. This weight shift helps give more forgiveness on miss-hits. The sole is slightly wider which works toward a higher launch angle.

Ping G15 Driver – The design of the face is elongated which increase the speed of the ball and also provides more consistency on the broad hitting surface. The shaft compensates for the 5 gram weight increase this yields higher ball speeds and better MOIs.

Ping G15 Fairway Wood – This head’s new design is also elongated and shaped to give an MOI that is increased by about 23 percent. This yields a super forgiveness even on bad tee strikes, or from the rough or fairway.

Ping G15 hybrid – This hybrid is specifically engineered to give a high launching ball and to be very forgiving on the long as well as mid irons. The internal toe pad has been expanded and the weight redistributed out to the perimeter. This redesign is one of the most forgiving of all Ping’s designs. The center of gravity is positioned closer to the face help increase the angle of launch while also reducing spin.

Review of the G15 Clubs

Overall the G15 continues to get rave reviews. Most really did not feel that the G10 series could be improved upon. But Ping designers went to work to see if they could do some elongating and weight shifting to create a club with even more forgiveness than the previous popular models. Overall it is noted that they succeeded in this mission.

The weight distribution changed the center of gravity on the clubs placing it nearer to the golf club face. This allows more weight to be at the bottom of the club without having to give up any swing speed. This helps not only with the trajectory but also with the spin of the ball.

The aesthetic appeal is much greater with the new G15s than with previous clubs. Actually, the laughable thing about Ping’s design before was how ugly they were. But the new design makes all that stop. It is sleek and makes a statement of quality.

What makes the Ping G15 golf clubs so popular is that the manufacturers are constantly looking at new innovative design ideas but refusing to compromise on their reliable design. This reliability is what stands out to golfers and why they choose Ping for their golf clubs so much of the time.

Most rave about the improved control and how straight their shots have become since using the latest developments from Ping.
